Almost every home and mobile internet connection in India uses a dynamic IP address. Your ISP can change it whenever your router restarts, and mobile networks often put many customers behind the same shared address (CGNAT). That is fine for browsing, but it breaks anything that needs a fixed IP: broker APIs, server whitelisting, remote desktop and CCTV access.
There are three practical ways to get a static IP address in India.
Option 1: Ask your ISP for a static IP
Airtel, Jio, Tata, ACT and other ISPs offer static IPs, usually as a paid add-on on business broadband or leased-line plans.
- Pros: no extra software; good for hosting servers at one office.
- Cons: often needs a business plan and paperwork; tied to one physical line; lost when you move, travel or switch to mobile data; not available on most mobile connections.
Option 2: Rent a cloud server (VPS)
You can rent a VPS with a fixed public IP and route traffic through it yourself.
- Pros: full control.
- Cons: you must set up and secure the VPN or proxy yourself, keep it patched, and troubleshoot it when it breaks.
Option 3: Use a static IP VPN
A static IP VPN gives you a dedicated IP that you can use over any connection — home Wi-Fi, a mobile hotspot, or a network abroad. You install a standard OpenVPN or WireGuard app and every connection exits through your own fixed IP.
- Pros: works with any ISP and any device; keeps the same IP when you travel; IPs available in India and 31 other countries; no server administration.
- Cons: monthly cost; traffic passes through the VPN server.
For most traders, freelancers and small businesses, option 3 is the quickest way to buy a static IP address online in India.

Which option should you choose?
If you only need a fixed IP for a server that never moves, ask your ISP. If you need the same IP on your laptop, phone and VPS, from any network, a static IP VPN is simpler. Not sure what you need? Read what is a static IP VPN.
